How do you master your time?
That’s what you’ll learn today.
You see, if you feel like you’re constantly disrupted, spend your time putting out fires instead of focusing on the things that actually move you closer to your goal, and, as a result, become moody and tired – this is for you.
Today, you’ll learn all four factors of TIME MASTERY:
- Why FOCUS is more important than talent or intelligence
- How a bad ATTITUDE can derail even the greatest of plans
- How managing your STAMINA helps you get more out of your body and your mind
- And how concerned we really should be about our TIME…

💡Quick overview:
- Time mastery is about taking control of and strategically using your time.
- Time mastery has four key components: focus, attitude, stamina, and time. If you lack one, you lack time mastery.
- To become proficient in time mastery, you have to focus on the right things, reframe your mindset, rest, and understand the value of your time.
What does time mastery mean?
Time mastery is about taking control of and strategically using your time to reach your goals and live a more fulfilling life.
The truth is, we’re really bad at time mastery because of things like stress, procrastination, overwhelm, and poor work-life balance.
In fact, research has found that only 18% of people have a proper time management system.
When we manage our time poorly, we’re more prone to anxiety, depression, burnout, worse sleep quality, and higher levels of stress.
So, how do you get on top of it?
It all starts when you understand that time mastery is more than just managing your time.
It’s about four things: focus, attitude, stamina, and time.
Only when you have all four can you genuinely have time mastery.
That’s why I’m going to teach you a new framework for time mastery: our F.A.S.T. model.
Let’s talk more about how it works – but first, you can hear about it in this video I made:
1. Focus on the right things
Here’s a hot take.
Focus is more important than your talent or intelligence. If you can focus, you can develop those things.
But focus is critical and invaluable – and it’s exceedingly rare.
Seriously – studies show that the average attention span has dropped from 2.5 minutes to just 45 seconds over the last twenty years.
Why?
Because most of us try to multitask (even though we can’t), are struggling with digital addiction, and are constantly interrupted or distracted by our phones or computers.
Seriously – on average, we check our phones 150 times a day!
When we lack focus, we struggle with deep work and generate only shallow work, which doesn’t move us forward.
Luckily, you can retrain your brain to focus.
You just have to work your Focus Muscle with things like concentration meditation and logic-based games.
But if you want to improve your focus right now, try these productivity hacks to work smarter, not harder:
- Playing the Sticky Focus Game (which you can learn here)
- Turning on a focus music playlist
- Using FocusMate (which we love so much that we give a subscription to every Lifehack Tribe member)
2. Reframe your mindset
A crucial part of time mastery is also one of the most overlooked.
And it’s the fact that your attitude can genuinely make all the difference.
Even the best plan will fall apart if you have a bad attitude.
That’s because we’re all battling a constant internal monologue telling us we’re not good enough, don’t have the time, or will never be able to reach our goals.
Although it’s an evolutionary mechanism that keeps us from pushing ourselves too hard, that negative inner voice hurts more than it helps.
And when you add it to the constant negativity we get from things like social media and the news, it’s easy to get caught up in self-doubt and actually start believing you won’t reach your goals.
That’s why reframing your mindset is such a key component of time mastery.
It’s not about ignoring obstacles or pretending that everything is perfect.
Instead, acknowledge them while focusing on solutions, celebrating achievements, and learning from failure.
Here are some ways to combat negativity:
- Curate your media and focus on uplifting, inspiring, and motivating content
- Practice gratitude
- Surround yourself with positive and supportive people
Time mastery starts with mind mastery.
You’ll find that these changes will completely transform your time management and productivity. You’ll stick to your plans and achieve your goals.
3. Manage your energy
When it comes to productivity, we’ve fallen into an anti-self, anti-body bias.
Instead of appreciating and managing our physical body, we’re constantly forcing it to push harder and work longer.
It’s like we think we have endless stamina – but we don’t.
Instead, we’re depleting a finite resource and pushing the limits of what our bodies and minds can produce.
And the faster we use our energy, the faster we burn out.
The reality is we have to rest to do more.
When we don’t rest, our diet, physical health, and sleep all deteriorate.
And that’s terrible for time mastery.
When we’re chronically exhausted, we move more slowly, make more mistakes, and sacrifice our peace of mind.
I see it in my clients all the time.
They’re constantly pushing themselves, but because they’re sacrificing their rest to do it, they end up with low-level but constant anxiety.
Most are so used to it that they don’t even notice it anymore! Trust me – that’s not the place you want to be.
4. Manage your time
This is the part of time mastery and the F.A.S.T. Model that everyone talks about: managing and making the most of your time.
Does it ever seem like other people are so productive that they must have more than 24 hours in a day?
They don’t. We’re all working with the same amount of time – but how they manage it makes all the difference.
And I get it.
We’re all worried about spending our time wisely… but we’re not concerned enough about the time we actually have.
Because if you realized how finite your time really is, you’d treat it like gold.
So, when it comes to time mastery, you have to understand the value of your time.
There are two things to know.
One, your perspective on time is untrue.
And two, how you think you spend your time is wildly different than how you actually spend it.
So start counting and monitoring how you spend your hours and ask yourself, “Is this really how I want to invest my time?”
I recommend doing a time audit.
It will tell you exactly how you’re spending your time. Chances are, it’ll surprise you.
For instance, my client Maggie was convinced she had no extra time in her schedule.
However, her time audit showed that she spent twelve hours each week consuming news and media.
I’ll teach you more about time audits in this video:
